Little Leaves

~ Books & Crafts for Young Children ~

(Recommended for Pre-K & Early Elementary Aged Kids)

January is often a time for reflecting on the year we just left behind and setting goals or resolutions for the year ahead. This January our book clubs are focusing on changing the world for the better – making the difference we can make… Here are a few book recommendations that go along with this theme:

  • Common Ground: The Water, Earth, and Air We Share
  • Don’t Let Them Disappear: 12 Endangered Species Across the Globe
  • Follow the Moon Home: A Tale of One Idea, Twenty Kids, and a Hundred Sea Turtles
  • Kid Activists: True Tales of Childhood from Champions of Change
  • Ordinary People Change the World Series
  • And the People Stayed HomeĀ
  • 101 Small Ways to Change the World
  • The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be
  • You Can Change the World

There are so many challenges facing the world and our young people today, and the problems can feel really overwhelming for kids and adults alike. However, if you present both the problems and opportunities for children to take action – if you empower them and include them in making positive change, then the challenges don’t seem so insurmountable. Help your children to understand and believe that there is always a solution, and we need everyone’s creativity working on the myriad of issues we need to tackle now.
