North Umpqua Trail Jessie Wright Section 6-3-23

Published June 4th, 2023 in UW Blogs

Eight Umpqua Watersheds members joined for the 4+ miles hike on our well loved North Umpqua Trail. When I chose this site I didn’t realize that we’d done this hike pre-pandemic. We had a great hike with great views of rock formations, old growth trees, wildflowers and the sparkling North Umpqua River. We saw some massive Sugar Pine, Douglas Fir and Cedar trees. Larry, a well known and respected geologist gave us a lot of information about the formation of the area and pointed out interesting formations. In the Umpqua we live in a beautiful place to protect and nurture. For myself, I love visiting sections of the NUT over and over. I’ve hiked the entire trail three times, and some sections even more. It was great to be out together hiking and planning our next hike. Happy Trails, Diana
