Cow Creek National Scenic Trail #1424

Cow Creek is a major tributary of the South Umpqua River. The 6 mile trail follows the creek through a lush old growth forest, with trees 500+ years old. The rich soil produces lush growth of many vibrant shades of glowing green. Seven of us had a great hike with numerous humorous rock hopping creek crossings. I just waded through rather than balance on slippery rocks. Diana
Seven of us hiked the Cow Creek Trail for a round trip of about six miles. I only made it half way due to the heat and enjoyed a slow leisurely hike back looking at all the flora. The big challenge was crossing creeks without slipping off the rocks. At my stage of life it is more important to take in the scenery than to see how many miles I can put behind me as I did in my younger days. We rewarded ourselves at the Azalea Store on our way back to Roseburg. Mike
