Kids for Nature
Kids for Nature (KfN) is a unique program developed by youth for youth. It began as an idea presented by a local 9-year-old during the 2021 Eco Innovations Challenge. She expressed the need for young people to spend time connecting with, learning about, and enjoying the environment. Last year, we offered six sessions, in which we visited local parks, went on hikes, collected natural materials, and created art projects using what we found. The group also dissected owl pellets, wrote and draw in nature journals, and learned about native bat species!
KfN is now our annual summer program! This year, the program will run from June through August. We are still finalizing the schedule. If you are interested in being a facilitator, or your child might want to participate, please email our Director of Education & Outreach at ryan@umpquawatersheds.org.
