Twin Lakes 9-24

Published September 29th, 2024 in UW Blogs

It was a beautiful fall day to spend at Twin Lakes for the 17 happy hikers for the first joint hike with Umpqua Watersheds and Friends of the Umpqua Hiking Club. The hike in is an adventure itself with the spectacular old growth forest and views to the Cascades of Diamond Peak, Thielsen, Bailey and Crater Lake Rim. The Fire Weed has gone to puffy seed. I spotted a dainty bleeding heart plant and the last of the asters. The view from the cliffs was as absorbing as always. The colors and reflections of the lakes changed as the light moved and shifted. An enchanting place which is in the Crater Lake Wilderness Proposal so that it will be designated the highest protection possible to keep it pristine. Diana
