Yew Creek Hike

June 27, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm

In this time of social distancing, we are determining how to bring people to the outdoors without risking their health and well being.  Please find a way to get outside, but do so in a responsible way. This group will be limited to under 10 people.

Hike Yew Creek, Saturday, June 27.  Ken Carloni will tour you through the habitat restoration/biochar project we’ve been working on for the last 2 years northwest of Riddle. We will see legacy hardwoods up to 6 ft. in diameter and visit the “Magic Forest”, a rare remnant of the ancient forests that once used to blanket our hills. White Irises, Indian Pinks, Native Orchids, Lupines, Henderson’s Star, Larkspurs and many other wildflowers will be blooming.  This tour will include ~2 miles of walking on mostly gently sloping roads and trails. We will leave at 9:00 am from the parking lot on the corner of Diamond Lake Blvd. and Fowler across from the library, and meet folks from south county at the McDonald’s parking lot off I-5 Exit 103. at 9:45 am.  Bring water, a lunch, and dress for Oregon in early May!
