Glide Wildflower Show
April 29 - April 30
The Glide Wildflower Show Council is very happy to send a Save the Date email to you for 2023!
Collecting will begin on Saturday, April 22rd and all specimens are to be delivered to the Glide Community Building on Wednesday, April 26th. Set-up for the show will begin on Tuesday, April 25th.
As we did last year, we will also be having a FloraBlitz on iNaturalist.org. and you all are invited to participate in the virtual show by taking pictures of native flowers from Saturday, April 15th to Thursday, April 27th and uploading them to the iNatualist.org site.
You don’t have to know what the plant is. At iNaturalist, the person uploading a photo can (but doesn’t have to) suggest an identification. As a reminder, to use iNaturalist, there are 3 simple steps:
1. Log in to iNaturalist: Download and open the iNaturalist app or go to www.iNaturalist.org. No log-in is needed to browse the site, but to upload photos you must have a free account.
2. Take a photo with your phone or digital camera. Any plant growing in the wild is fair game, both native and non–native. Non-flowering plants are also fine to include: ferns, horsetails, trees. Please do not include garden flowers. Go to the GWS FloraBlitz on iNaturalist for photo tips.
3. Upload your observation. iNaturalist has great instructions under Help – Getting Started. Take some pictures and try it out! The more you practice, the easier it is.
Photos will be viewable as they are uploaded. The entire show, with IDs, can be viewed starting show weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 29th and 30th, and continuing forever.
