Explore Rogue River Camping Trip

May 23 - May 26

The Wilderness Committee is offering a guided camping outing. Farewell Bend Forest Service Campground near a portion of the Crater Lake Wilderness Proposal.

We will explore lesser known areas in the Crater Lake Wilderness proposal as roads and trails enable. The sites are Union Creek 3957 acres, Ginkgo Creek 1036 acres, Mill Creek 3990 acres, Dead Soldier Meadow 1577 acres and backcountry along the Rogue River. We will visit Rabbit Ears and Herschberger Lookout which are in the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness additions.
The Farewell Bend Forest Service Campground is being renovated. It is on Hwy 62 just north of Union Creek. There are 61 campsites and flush toilets. The water system is being renovated. Opening has been postponed twice because work crews are behind on renovations. The new date for opening is May 21. If it opens, we will reserve 2 campsites. If it does not open, we will go to Union Creek Campground on Hwy 62 at Union Creek and get 2 first come sites. There are 73 campsites and vault toilets. It is opening late also, the water system is being renovated.
You don’t have to come for all the days. Come for whichever days work for you.
Please pre-register with Diana by May 20 either text 541-784-5004 or email diana@umpquawatersheds.org
