Dreamcatcher Restoration Project

Tree planting and invasive species removal

Join Umpqua Watersheds and our community to help with restoration efforts on an area within the Archie Creek Fire perimeter.

Blackberry and scotch broom are encroaching on this once thriving forest.

Plant 300 trees on the property to help stabilize the slope, crowd out the invasives, and bring back wildlife habitat.

Where: Near Idlyld Park, OR. Meet at Swiftwater Day-Use Area
When: February 18, 2023 1pm to 5pm and Feb 19, 2023, 10am to 3pm
What: Tree planting 300 trees will be planted on the property Scotch Broom and blackberry removal The open landscape is an invitation for invasive species
Why: Al and Trudy Walker, long time members and contributors to the community, lost their house in the 2020 Archie Creek Fire. They are rebuilding but their landscape is in need of restoration.
Who: We need you to help with this effort.
What to bring:

  • Good boots
  • Planting shovel or other digging tool
  • Weed wrench
  • Loppers
  • Gloves
  • Lunch
  • Water or beverage
  • Change of clothes
  • Dress for the weather
  • Hat or head warmer

We have some tools and gloves. If you have your own, please bring them. Beverages and some snacks will be available.
